Five Ways to Get Past the negative words of others

Five Ways to Get Past the negative words of others
Focused Intent
We have all heard negative words. You might tell someone about a business plan and hear: "You’ll never be able to do that." A high school student may tell a guidance counselor about a dream to get into medical school and hear: "I don’t think you are medical school material.

When a negative word is spoken over us we have a choice to reject or accept that word. If the negative word is accepted, defeat has also been accepted. By your own actions of accepting the negative word you will be allowing it to take root.

You might not be able to control the negative words that people speak, but you do have control over what you do with these words. Don’t give negative words life by believing them. Negative words are like poison so don’t be tempted to drink the cup of poison offered to you through negative words. No one can force you to dwell on negative, discouraging words.

If a negative word or thought is directed at you, try the following:

1. Ignore and refuse every the negative word spoken against you;

2. Care more about what you know of yourself than what others think;

3. Immediately dwell on good words and pleasant thoughts until the negative word leaves your mind;

4. Believe that you have what it takes and that the negative thought is powerless; and

5. Don’t let others define who you are. The only one that can define who you are is you.

Words have power, don’t destroy anyone else’s self esteem by speaking discouraging words. Live in victory and let me know how you are doing.
